Description
No more stringing your wicks with this durable plastic mold because we now added wick pins. The candles produced by using this mold are 1 3/4 inches tall x 1 3/8 inches in diameter. There will be a slight bowing which is the result of the molding process at the factory. But in no way will it affect the shape of the candles.
Helpful tips when using this mold.
Plastic molds are a little different to use vs. metal ones. First of all you should use a thermometer to make sure that the liquid wax is about 190 degrees when you pour. You cannot use soft waxes or some soy blends (container candle wax for jars etc.), in this type mold. For best results we recommend paraffin wax with a melting point of 133 degree or higher.
"Using the recommended wax this mold will produce scented votive candles with a burn-rate of 10 hours. I used a HTP-52 wick about 2.4 inches long; and for unscented 10 hour candle I used a TL-21 or 25 wick".
Pouring and removing of candles
*Even though the wick pins are tight you will get seepage on the "top end" (remember you pour these candles upside down! So using a little mold sealer on the bottom will prevent the seepage however, I let the wax ooze out and when it get hard I simply peel it off with a small utility knife and reuse the wax in my next batch. If you don't have mold sealer, play-dough works just fine and it is less expensive.
*When you pour your hot wax into this mold pour it up to the top of the cavity and when the wax hardens then you can top it off (but you are actually topping of the bottom (because you pour these candles up-side-down! "You may also have to center the pins as the wax begins to congeal".
*Once the candles are cool and hardened you simply tap the pins out and gently smack the mold on a solid flat surface and your candles will slide right out. Just make sure that your candles are cold. In very hot weather I put the finished candle mold in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes or so and they will slide right out.
